“Evaluation of the influenza patients laboratory data (blood, urine) during employment of the “Phtisio-Biofon” apparatus”

The “Biofon” apparatus was used in treatment of influenza and acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) at the premises of a sick ward of a military unit during the February-March 2000 epidemic in Saint Petersburg caused primarily by the A(H3N2) type grippe virus.

The survey embraced 75 18-20 years old grippe and ARVI patients admitted for treatment. All the patients received standard pharmaceutical treatment and in addition 35 patients from the survey group were undergoing “Biofon” exposure therapy involving 6 daily 24-seconds long exposure sessions. During the treatment the apparatus demonstrated good efficacy and tolerance. The survey group patients showed no negative side effects in form of general or local reactions. Positive treatment dynamics, a quicker resolution of clinical manifestations, reduction in the on-the-sicklist time and a drop in incidence of the postinfluenzal complications were evident In the course of treatment.

The analysis of the peripheral blood parameters in the ARVI part of the patient body (n=10) before and after the “Biofon” exposure treatment revealed no pathological changes in comparison to the same parameters in the check patients which attests to absence of negative side-effects of the apparatus on the macroorganism (see Table1). General urine test in the “Phtisio-Biofon” exposure patients revealed no pathological changes either.

A pronounced positive healing effect of the “Phtisio-Biofon” apparatus, good exposure tolerance, absence of negative action upon the patient’s organism permit to recommend it for use as a modern accessory physical therapy means in a complex grippe and ARVI therapy.
