INFRA-RED THERAPY DEVICES OF THE “BIOFON” GROUP

Nowadays modern medical biology alongside with in-depth study of pathogenic factors influencing a human body, devises new effective means and methods aimed at prevention and treatment of the most dangerous diseases.

Development and application of physiotherapeutic methods is one of the most promising lines of progress. Methods of physical therapy eliminate adverse impact of pharmaceuticals, antibiotics in particular, upon organism. Lengthy administration of pharmacological treatment leads to destruction and degradation of normal human microflora followed by its replacement with pathogenic microorganisms causing, as a rule, a range of slow chronic diseases.

Development of effective physiotherapeutic methods capable of promoting complete purge of human organism of highly-toxic pathogens, on the one hand, and of restoration of normal flora with simultaneous enhancement of the system’s resistance to pathogenic effects on the other, is a very challenging and the most topical current task of public health care.

In connection with this one of the promising avenues of the R&D effort is development, introduction and refinement of IR antimicrobial therapy devices. The “BIOFON” family devices, use infra-red radiation of non-thermal intensity, to inactivate a variety of pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins, at the same time causing no harm to normal flora and the cells of human organism.

The operating principle of the “BIOFON” devices is described in Russian patent ¹2055604 “The device for influencing the activity of a living cell”

The appliance is a small-sized electronic device, emitting the information-modulated electromagnetic radiation of non-thermal intensity and infra-red band, which with high degree of selectivity affects pathogenic strains of a variety of fungi, bacteria, viruses, prions, monads and their toxins.

The radiation spectrum is programmed to correspond to that of the pathogenic strains being inactivated, and their toxins.

When the device is operated absorption of the IR quantums emitted by the appliance by the cell membrane and transmembrane proteins causes conformational changes and hampers metabolic interaction between the pathogenic microorganism and the intercellular space. The viability of the pathogenic agent thus weakened helps the human immune system to eliminate it more readily.

“Uro-BIOFON” is the first IR-therapy device in quantity production. It is capable of inactivating a wide range of pathogenic microorganisms: chlamydiae, staphylococci, pseudomonas, enterococci, bacteroidi, enterobacteria, gardnerella, spirochet, trichomonads, micobacteria, candidae, mycoplasmae, ureaplasmae, papillomaviruses.

The main designated purpose of the device is physiotherapeutic treatment of acute and chronic forms of urethritis and prostatitis with chlamydial etiology, sanitation and functional normalization of the human urogenital system, restoration of its normal microflora and enhancement of organism resistance to recurrent infection.

Simple design makes “Uro-BIOFON” a useful tool in prevention of spread of urogenital diseases in the public areas of recreation, health resorts, and in homes with ill family members to preclude transmission of the disease and recurrent infections.

Clinical tests and therapeutical employment of “Uro-BIOFON” proved both its high efficacy and enhanced resistance of the organism to recurrent infection after administered treatment.

The following modifications of the device have been developed and approved by the Ministry of Health for testing:

“Phthisio-BIOFON” – for treatment of tuberculosis, and the diseases of lungs and upper respiratory tract;

“ORVI-BIOFON” – for treatment of conditions caused by acute respiratory viral infection and influenza;

“Antivir-BIOFON” – for the tick-borne encephalitis therapy and treatment of hemorrhagic fever;

“Phthisio-BIOFON” may be used to rehabilitate patients after the major course of treatment; for preventive care of personnel and family members who deal with TB patients, and prevention of recurrent infecting.

“ORVI -BIOFON” may be taken up for use in every health care institution and any family for disease prevention during seasonal epidemics.

“Antivir-BIOFON” may be widely employed as a preventive measure in sanatoriums and health resorts located in the wooded areas known as epidemic hotbeds for the tick-borne encephalitis and hemorrhagic fever.

Wide-spread acceptance of the “BIOFON” type devices will be a significant contribution to prevention effort aimed at lowering incidence of infectious diseases, to health enhancement of general population and medical personnel and to rehabilitation of people recovering after acute and chronic diseases.
