"Uro-Biofon" – The Last Word in Treatment Of Infectious Diseases

Urogenital chlamydiosis is the most common disease transmitted by a sexual contact. According to WHO and researches, involved in this problem, chlamydiosis morbidity in the world amounts to 50 mln people each year, in the USA – 4 mln people.

If one takes into account the fact that chlamydioses is often asymptomatic, is difficult to diagnose with laboratory tests, and not easy to treat, gives serious complications, it should be recognized that it may gradually become a great affliction to the community.

Inspite of various approaches to the treatment of urogenital infections, developed in recent years, including intensive antibacterial therapy with the antibiotics of the 4th generation, treatment efficiency is still not high enough.

Thus, one of the main tasks, which medico-biological science faces, alongside with deep studies of mechanisms of pathogenic factor effect on the human body, is the development of effective means and methods for prevention and treatment of chlamydious and accompaned urogenital infections.

A great bulk of investigations carried on in this direction is devoted to the effect of static electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic radiations of a wide spectrum on biological structures. At present principles of physical field action on the body living cells are used in various designs of diagnostic and treating devices, effecting biologically active points. These devices apply weak direct and alternative currents, coherent and incoherent radiation, SHF and EHF-radiation and so on. What these devices have in common is their stimulating focus at the organs and parts of the living body. Therefore, the aim of studying the interaction of a biological object and his autoflora as an integral system in a given period of his activity and during the whole life becomes urgent and up-to-date.

In this connection an original home-made "Uro-Biofon" apparatus for infrared therapy is of great interest. This compact and easy-to-use device is developed and produced by Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (IMP), one of the leading enterprises of the Military Production Complex (MPC).

The "Uro-Biofon" aspparatus is a compact electronic device, forming information-modulated electromagnetic radiation of IR nonthermal range, which in doses and on a highly selective level suppressed pathogenic strains of different bacteria, viruses, fungi, unicell microorganisms and their toxins.

The "Uro-Biofon" apparatus is mainly designed for physiotherapeutic treatment of chronic urethritis and prostatitis of chlamydious etiology, as well as for improving, preventing and normalizing functions of the urogenital system, disturbances of which are caused by pathogenic flora activity. However, in reality, pathogenic flora always accompanies urogenital chlamydiosis. That's why the "Uro-Biofon" apparatus is programmed for better efficiency to inactivate a number of accompanying pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins of the following families:

  1. Chlamydiacae
  2. Spirochetaceae (Spirochaeia, Treponema, Cristispira, Borrelia)
  3. Neisseriaceae (Neisseria, Moraxella, Acinetobacter, Kingella)
  4. Trichomonadidae
  5. Micrococcaceae (Micrococcus, Staphylococcus, Stomatococcus, Planococcus)
  6. Pseudomonadaceae
  7. Enterobacteriaceae (Escherichia, Klebsiella, Morganella, Salmonella, Shigella, Yersinia, Proteus, etc.)
  8. Bacterioidaceae
  9. Mycobacteriaceae
  10. Gardnerella
  11. Mobiluncus
  12. Papovaviridae
  13. Streptococcus
  14. Candida
  15. Mycoplasmataceae (Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma).

Such complex effect creates favourable conditions for protecting autoflora reparation, and reduces the risk of reinfection. The apparatus can be used in clinics and out-patient environment independently or in combination with common medical preparations and physiotherapeutical procedures.

The principle of operation of the "Biofon" apparatus is described in detail in the Patent of the Russian Federation "No. 205560. Device for Changing the Activity of a Biological Cell". Having investigated frequency characteristics of pathogenic microorganisms, scientists came to the conclusion that they can be acted upon and rather effectively. As a result of long-lasting trials and investigations there appeared a "Biofon" apparatus – a portable electronic device of local action with a Si crystal emitter. The apparatus work is based on a resonance interaction of the excited crystal and certain kinds of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins at their information frequences.

In the course of the device development, analyzing the electromagnetic fields, formed by biologic cells, miroorganisms and products of their activity, problems of dynamic balance between commensal and pathogenic constituent of autoflora and the biological object itself have been solved. A high selectivity of the apparatus action allows to inactivate and weaken protective functions of pathogenic microorganisms (and inactivate their toxins) only, commensal autoflora of the man and his own cells being not affected.

During short sessions (24s) the device forms and radiates a bunch of modulated electromagnetic waves of nonthermal intensity in the nearest infrared range (0.8-0.9 m m). Radiation power is several thousands of a watt. Radiation spectrum corresponds to the spectrum of pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins in the suppressed condition. Energy quants are absorbed by transmembrane albumins of plasma membrane resulting in conformation of albumin molecules, potential changes on the plasma membrane and decrease in the metabolic process rate between a cell and intercellular space. Weakening of pathogenic microorganism protective functions, decrease the amount of toxins produced facilitates their further inactivation and elimination by the immune system.

It should be noted that the "Uro-Biofon" successfully inactivates both the abovementioned microorganisms and their L-forms.

The apparatus has undergone a complete cycle of preliminary trials, as well as extended clinical ones in the leading R&D Institutes and clinics of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation: MMSI after Semashko, Moscow; MONIKI after Vladimirsky, Moscow; CNIKVI, Moscow; RDVD, Izhevsk; R&D Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology, Rostov-on-Don; State Scientific Center for Applied Microbiology, settl. Obolensk. The apparatus is recommended for use by the New Medical Technique Committee of Minstry of Health of the Russian Federation (Protocol No. 2 of June, 10, 1998) and has a Certificate of Compliance GOST P (reg. No. POCC RU.ИМ04.B01572 of November 23, 1999). Besides, approval tests have been carried out in more than 20 regions of Russia (MLDO, Krasnodar; SDVD, Novorossiysk; RDVD, Samara; SDVD, Saint-Petersburg, marternity house MMU CH No. 7, Volgograd; RDVD, Kirov and so on), where positive results have been achieved. It is necessary to note that "Uro-Biofon" application helps to resolve infection clinical manifestation already after 4-6 sessions; in complex therapy it allows to decrease treatment time and a course dose of antibacterial preparations. The use of "Uro-Biofon" apparatus is especially vital in case of resistancy or intolerancy to antibiotics, as well as in treating children and pregnant women.

The "Uro-Biofon" apparatus has successfully been used for 4 years in the treating practice in Regional DermatoVenereological Dispensary (RDVD) in Izhevsk under the supervision of Head of the Department of Dermatovenereology for Izhevsk State Medical Academy, Cand. of Med. Sc. Zagrtdinova R.M. According to the statistical data (3000 people treated by 1999) treatment efficiency of chlamydiosis only by the "Uro-Biofon" without any additional means amounted to 64%, and in combination with antibiotic therapy (1 course lasts 12-14 days) it was 98%. Besides, Zagrtdinova R.M. achieved positive results in treating acne diseases in young people, using the "Uro-Biofon" apparatus. At present the apparatus is being used in medical institutions of more than 40 regions of Russia.

Nowadays a whole series of devices under a common name "Biofon" are being developed on the basis of the "Uro-Biofon" design for treating such commmon diseases as tuberculosis, influenza, adenoviral infections, tick-borne encephalitis, haemorrhagic fever and others.

In conclusion it should be said, that such advantages of the "Uro-Biofon" apparatus as high selectivity of action, absence of harmful influence on the human body, ability to repair protective autoflora of the man and increase resistance of the body to reinfection, place the device to the proper position among other physiotherapeutical apparatuses and will contribute to quicker and more effective treatment of urogenital infections.
