Symptoms of arthritis

The disease manifests itself in persistent arthritis (usually polyarthritis) with early and prevailing lesion of the hand and foot joints. Morning constrains of movement in the swollen and painful affected joints and local temperature rise are the characteristic features of the disease. The onset of the disease is gradual, advance is tidal but steadily progressive involving new joints with their subsequent bad deformation – “rheumatic hand”, “rheumatic foot”. Other than joint lesions are possible (pleuritis, pericarditis, myocarditis, enlargement of the liver, the spleen or the lymph nodes).

Diagnosis is made on the basis of the X-ray data about the erosion of the joint surfaces, determination of the rheumatoid factor in the blood serum and synovial liquid. ESR growth, rise of the blood fibrinogen level and C-reactive protein are evident.
