Bartholinitis, symptoms of bartholinitis. Bartholinitis treatment.Bartholinitis is an inflammation of the Bartholin’s gland. The causative agents are various microbes: staphylococci, gonococci etc. The infection intrudes through the outward glandular duct (canaliculitis) and then the inflammatory process spreads to the parenchyma (serous, purulent inflammation). The purulent content fills the lobes of the gland resulting in a false abscess which may spontaneously open. Bartholinitis treatment Symptoms of bartholinitis.Malaise, weakness, swollen feeling in the external genitals, rising temperature during an acute phase of the disease. Examination reveals swelling and hyperemia in the area of the Bartholin’s gland, tenderness to palpation. Hectic temperature, chills occur during false abscess. When the abscess opens general condition of the patient improves, temperature recedes. The chronic phase of bartholinitis may lead to appearance of a retention cyst. The disease has a tendency to recurrence. |
